The International Safe Transit Association, or ISTA, is an organization that creates standards for packaging design to ensure the safe arrival of the package’s contents. ISTA package testing is a series of controlled laboratory procedures that simulate the rigors of transportation. These tests mimic real-world conditions, including vibrations, drops, compression, and various environmental factors, to ensure that packaging can withstand the stresses of shipping and handling. By subjecting packaging to these simulations, manufacturers can identify weaknesses and make necessary improvements before products hit the market.
All three of DDL’s testing locations are ISTA certified and provide expert testing and guidance on the package validation process. DDL is able to perform the following ISTA testing standards.
